DIY - Framing dried flowers

For the best results, you will have to roll up your sleeves yourself. Don't panic, this is a very simple project! You certainly have most of the supplies you need already at home!

Here is our step-by-step plan and some tips for framing dried flowers:

STEP 1:

Patience is a beautiful thing. To preserve your dried flowers for a long time without them going moldy, you need to let them dry for +/- 3 weeks. Place the flowers between 2 sheets of tissue paper (or baking paper) and put some heavy books on top.

STEP 2: Use fresh flowers, they retain their color best. Also, not all flowers are suitable for making dried flowers some stems contain too much moisture.

We prefer to use:

  • Lavender
  • Violets
  • Sunflowers
  • Roses
  • Hydrangeas

These flowers are less suitable for drying:

  • Daffodils (including Amaryllises)
  • Tulips
  • Gerberas

STEP 3:

Plants are also great for drying and decorative use. Plants are also a lot easier to dry and fit better in a minimalist and Scandinavian interior.

In the picture on the right you can see a nice example of a dried leaf in a natural wooden frame. This frame is ideal for framing objects.

STEP 4:

Choose an appropriate photo frame to frame your flowers. To bring spring into your home, you probably chose brightly colored flowers? To get the best end result, we recommend that you frame these fell dry flowers in a neutral photo frame:

- White wooden frame for object framing
- Photo frame in oak colour with an off-white mount
Small frame in black

Be sure to use a white mount (white border) for that extra touch!
